In the realm of music, there are artists who carve a unique path, and one such remarkable talent is Wake, also known as Vivek Bishnoi. In an exclusive interview with 7Sangeet Magazine, we explored Wake’s extraordinary musical odyssey, which began long before he ever put pen to paper or entered a recording studio.

From 2012 to 2015

Wake immersed himself in the world of dance as a Choreographer, exposing himself to various genres and styles of music. This experience proved to be pivotal, as it nurtured his keen awareness of musical elements such as beats, flow, and lyrics.

The transition:

“When I started making music, everything just flowed in sync,” Wake shared, reflecting on his seamless transition from dance to hip-hop. The knowledge acquired during his years as a Choreographer became the bedrock for his musical pursuits.

But Wake’s journey doesn’t stop there – he is also the proud owner of Mercy Studio and Mercy Records. Mercy Studio, considered one of the best studios in Ahmedabad, has provided top-level services to some of the industry’s top names. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, Mercy Studio has been the birthplace of many hit records, making it a go-to destination for artists seeking exceptional music production and engineering capabilities.

With his exceptional skills in music production and recording engineering, Wake elevates his artistry to new heights. His expertise behind the console has helped shape the sounds of countless tracks, bringing out the best in each artist he collaborates with. Mercy Records, a label dedicated to finding hidden talent, operates under the wings of Mercy Studio and Wake, ensuring that his vision of nurturing and promoting new artists becomes a reality.

As we continued our conversation, Wake shared more insights into his journey. He described his music as a cathartic experience – an influence for listeners to understand the profound lessons he’s learned and the battles he’s fought within himself. Through his art, he confronts the dark side of life, transcending insecurities, indecisiveness, and aggression.

Eminem, Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park), Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, 2pac, and the trailblazing Bohemia were among the artists who significantly influenced Wake’s musical journey. The fusion of Punjabi language in Bohemia’s hip-hop made it easier for Wake to connect with the genre.

Maintaining motivation is key, and Wake accomplishes this by helping other artists and firmly believing that the first step is crucial in art development. During periods when music-making feels distant, he channels his creativity into various art forms, from writing stories to creating visual concepts and exploring new ideas. Having a clear purpose and destination keeps his path focused, regardless of external motivation.

Currently, Wake is actively developing his Record Label to provide a platform for artists to express themselves freely, without restrictions on style or content. For his audience, he has a special surprise in store – a 4-track EP that reflects years of hard work. Although the album’s release date remains uncertain, the EP promises to be a significant transition for Wake, delving into topics close to his heart. A particular track titled “GUNAAH” holds immense sentimental value, and he urges his audience to eagerly anticipate its release.

Wake’s musical journey is an inspiration to aspiring artists, exemplifying the power of perseverance, passion, and purpose in creating soul-stirring art that resonates with audiences worldwide. Follow his progress and stay tuned for the EP, as Wake continues to captivate hearts and minds through his transformative music. With Mercy Studios and Mercy Records by his side, his vision for the future of music shines brighter than ever before.
