From jamming on FL Studio on an old laptop to dropping a bold, genre-bending EP, Aatish Skies is a name quickly gaining ground in India’s indie music scene. What began as a simple fascination with sound has evolved into a deeply personal and expressive journey, now fully realized in his debut EP Sophisticated Hues.
Blending elements of pop, R&B, and hip hop, Aatish doesn’t believe in being boxed into one genre. “The Weeknd, Justin Timberlake, Lana Del Rey… they’ve all shaped my sound. But honestly, my peers like Mystic the Wiz and Jay Chhaya inspire me just as much,” he shares.
Sophisticated Hues is a raw, emotional ride. “It’s about being given hope, only to have it crushed. It’s heartbreak seen through the eyes of an artist,” he says. With standout tracks like Blinded, the EP showcases his bold songwriting and experimental production, while staying true to his emotional roots.
Being an independent artist comes with its share of challenges. “The hardest part is being seen and heard. Visual presentation matters today, but never at the cost of authenticity,” he explains. For Aatish, staying grounded and grateful helps him push through creative blocks. “Even if just a few people connect with my music on a real level, that’s enough to keep going.”
With Sophisticated Hues now out in the world, Aatish is only getting started. “I want to influence more people through my music and eventually be financially free doing what I love.”
